Dual Diagnosis

 "A Focus on Individual Needs"

The Dual Diagnosis Residential program uses therapeutic community methodology to structure daily learning.  The unit is known as a family and a sense of belonging and acceptance is provided to all clients as they enter treatment.  We provide a positive role model, setting boundaries and encourage residents to participate in all levels of treatment.  The residents will learn that they have choices and that they have value in this world as a sober person.  They receive education about their specific mental illness diagnosis and their chemical dependency.

The resident has had a lifestyle that developed a worldview that people are not to be trusted, that the world treats them different than other people.  They have not learned to be responsible for their behavior.  The residents will learn that they deserve food things; that they are important.

PROGRAM GOALS           CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION

The goal of the program is to increase the resident's adaptive coping skills and the ability to take control over his/her life through taking and meeting responsibilities in an effective manner.  In doing this, residents decrease the imminence of non-productive behaviors such as the abuse of substances.  Another goal is to assist the resident with the development of an effective community support network which will provide emotional, mental, physical and spiritual support which in turn will increase the probability that the person can maintain an effective, independent life.
