July 2008

FROM THE DESK OF: Saundra J. Jenkins, Interim Executive Director

Hello, I'm Saundra J. Jenkins, MSW, Interim Executive Director and I wish to extend a warm and hearty Nova House thank you for the welcome that each of you have extended to me since I joined the Nova House team.

Prior to joining Nova House, I did a little research into your past and found the following information: great testimonials from alumni's about the treatment they received at Nova House, and testimonials on how this treatment has changed their lives and their families lives.  The alumni continue to recommend our services to others in need and frequently name specific staff members ho had a direct impact in their lives.

Nova House is known to hold several certifications and accreditations, one of it's most recent is a three-year CARF Accreditation through 2010, congratulations to everyone!

Since joining you, I have learned from some of our primary stakeholders that Nova House had a reputation of being great to work with: a history of being willing to go that extra mile to reduce barriers to admission; to partner with agencies to keep clients in our care; to be timely in our responses; and innovative in our treatment approaches.

Notice that I said Nova House had a reputation of being great to work wtih.  It is not unusual for an organization of uour stature to rest on it's laurels and not pay as close attention to all of it's customers as it should.

Thank goodness that the quality of care to our clients has not diminished.  However, we must remember we have several customers and all deserve our full attention.

Our customers for example are our clients, their families, our alumni, Montgomery County ADAMHS Board, Crisis Care, Drug Court, our sister agencies, ODADAS, ODMH, ODRC, ACA, City of Dayton, Bureau of Prison, Federal Probation and Pre-Trail services to name a few.

Now the good news, in the short time I have been working with you, I have come to appreciate your "can do" spirity.  I firmly believe we can regain that "yes, I can spirit."  Our stake holders will affirm that we are great to work with again.

Please feel free to share your ideas on how we can improve our customer service.
