The
Health/Safety/Infection Control Committee members
are as follows: Ronnie Gibson, Chairperson,
Lynette Davis, Judy Crum, Marcie Hinkle, Terri
Martin, Jessica Mueller, Marilyn Lawrence, Tony
Ruscitelli, Juantia Russell, Linda Nelloms. and
Sheila Morgan.
Tornado
Season is fast approaching. If you are not
sure where the nearest tornado safe zone is
located for your area, please see a safety
committee member immediately.
The
safety of clients, staff and visitors depend on
your timely response in the event of an
emergency. Please be sire that timely
evacuations are taking place and remember to take
a first aid kit, a cell phone, and staff and
client listings with you as you exit the
building. Once everyone has reached the
designated location across the street at the
church parking lot, a head count should be
taken. Upon entrance back into the building,
an evacuation drill report form should be
completed and submitted immediately.
Fire
evacuation drills should be taking place monthly
and quarterly on each shift. All other
drills should be taking place annually.
Reminders:
-
Two
weather band radios are available at the front
desk and in the residential mailroom if
needed.

There
are three emergency cell phones available to
staff and distributed as follows: K. Baker, M.
Crane, and B. Roberrts

All
1st aid kits should remain completely stocked
at all times. Supplies needed to
replenish your first aide kit come from the
nurse
-
All
electrical appliances/equipment brought into
the agency by staff and/or clients are to be
inspected and tagged as such by a member of
the safety committee.

Internal
accident reports should be submitted to
Lynette Davis within 24 hours of the
event. Any unusual event should be
documented such as damaged and/or missing
property/equipment, communicable diseases,
personal injury, vandalism, etc.
Networks
Trainings/Workshops by Marilyn Lawrence
The
Nova House Association, Inc. NETwoks Training
Center had (3) goals in mind this fiscal
year. They were as follows:
-
Make
Training Opportunities available to staff to
meet requirements of Commission on
Accreditation of Rehabilitation (CARF), Ohio
Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction
Services (ODADAS) and other regulatory
agencies.
-
To
make training available to staff to support
licensure and certification.
-
To
make quality trainings available to the
professional community at a reasonable cost.
The
general survey conducted among Nova House Staff
showed the needed training in several areas.
30 survey responses were received from
staff. The areas most requested for training
were as follows: Clinical Supervision,
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Diagnosing &
Dual Diagnosing, Professional Ethics, Oral/Written
Exam Review.
Nova
Offered 13 Home Study Courses to assist in
acquiring CEU's and RCH's. Nova Staff 35%
and the public utilized 65%. The 3 most
highly requested Home Study Courses offered
were: Pharmalogical Effects & Drug
Categories, Basics of Federal Confidentiality, and
Clinical Supervision.
Participants
were offered to participate anonymously in
evaluations. The results showed
workshop/trainings were graded on a scale of
1-5. 98% were graded in the area of
5=outstanding, and 2% were graded in the area of
4=excellent.
There
were three Community Educational Opportunities
attended by the Networks Coordinator on behalf of
Nova House Association.
